Dark storefront sees life
If you've noticed some activity inside the former Kids "R" Us at Indian Ridge Plaza on Grape Road, it is because the space finally has been leased.
Tom Eslinger and his wife, Rose, decided to relocate their Sofa Select store not long after construction commenced on a commercial building in front of their furniture store at 4110 Grape Road, Mishawaka. The new building makes it difficult to see the front of Sofa Select.
A February move is slated.
The 22,000-square-foot new space at Indian Ridge will allow the Eslingers to double the size of the store and add dining rooms, bedrooms and mattresses. "We'd planned on taking over more space right where we're at, but we're losing all our visibility," says Eslinger. "We'll be next to Circuit City now, and rather than be on the fringe of Grape Road we'll be in the middle."
